How to buy at botterweg auctions

SIGN UP OR LOG IN

In order to bid you must first log in. If you do not have an account with us yet, please first complete the registration via our website. After your registration has been approved, you will receive a confirmation via email and you can log in and place your bids. You can leave bids from the moment the auction catalogue is online until the lot is auctioned during the live online auction.

BIDDING OPTIONS

There are two types of bidding possible:
1. Place an absentee (maximum) bid via the online catalogue
2. From your computer during the online live auction

One week before the live online auction starts, the catalogue will appear online and bidding can commence. You can enter the maximum amount you are willing to bid, this bid is only visible to you. The auction system will automatically bid for you until you have reached this limit. If there are no more competing bidders, you may also have purchased the lot for a lower amount than your maximum bid.

During the Live Auction, all lots expire one by one, starting on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. with Art Books. Decorative Art & Design starts on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at lot 1. The final lot ends on Wednesday evening. You can find the order of sale on our homepage.

Lots that were not bid on during the auction can be purchased in the Aftersale for the starting price plus 27.4% premium. The Aftersale starts approximately 30 minutes after the final lot in the catalogue has ended on Wednesday evening and lasts for 10 days.

VIEWING DAYS

During the viewing days you can view all lots in our showroom at Moezelhavenweg 99, our showroom is located on the water. Parking is free, if you want to come by train, it is a 25-minute walk from Sloterdijk Station.

BUYER'S PREMIUM

Winning bidders pay a buyer's premium of 27,4% (including all taxes) in addition to the hammer price.

There may be additional costs associated with the purchase of an original work created by a living artist, or for a period after their death. Resale right is the right of the creators of an (original) work of art or their heirs to receive a percentage of the sales price upon resale of his or her work. If the work you purchased was made by a living artist or an artist who died less than 70 years ago, the resale right may apply to works of art with a purchase price from € 3,000 (hammer price + buyer's premium). We will mention this in the auction catalogue. Botterweg Auctions will pass on the legally required resale right fee to the buyer and take care of the financial settlement.

The resale right fee is composed of the following graduated percentages::

> € 3.000 – < € 50.000            4%
> € 50.000 – < € 200.000        3%
> € 200.000 – < € 350.000      1%
> € 350.000 – < € 500.000    0,5%
> € 500.000                          0,25%

(up to a maximum fee of € 12.500,-)
