In 1917 Laurens van Kuik co-founded the artists society 'De Branding', together with Marius Richters, Bernard Toon Gits and Bernard Canter. His early work is influenced by kubism, but also by futurism and psychology. He also created abstract works based on sound. Van Kuik exhibited at De Branding and also at De Volstrekt Modernen, De Onafhankelijken, De Anderen and Leidsche Kunstclub De Sfinx (Source: Wikipedia)
